Trump tariff shocks, a highly volatile stock market, slowdown fears and overall global uncertainty may impact India’s hiring landscape in the short-term, particularly in the traditionally most active April-June quarter.
Companies are likely to adopt a wait-and-watch approach until the dust settles, playing it cautious on anything beyond critical/replacement hiring, said nearly a dozen hiring firms and HR heads ET spoke to. However, in the medium to long term, India is likely to benefit, they said. Lower reciprocal tariffs will give India a competitive edge over rivals, presenting opportunities and leading to more job creation across sectors.
