Infosys Fastest In Salary Hike; 13,553 Techies Hired By TCS, Infosys, Wipro

India’s top IT services firms appear to have reversed the headcount decline seen in FY24 as the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and Wipro have collectively added  13,553 employees during the 2025 financial year.

Reversing The Impact Of Headcount Decline

This holds great significance as it marks a recovery from last year’s historic net reduction of 63,759 employees mainly driven by a sector-wide hiring slowdown and sluggish revenue growth.

When it comes to the hiring, both Infosys and TCS outpaced Wipro where TCS hired 6,433 employees, while Infosys closely followed with 6,388 additions.

Contrary to this, Wipro’s headcount saw an increase of 732 employees.

If we compare these three, Infosys and TCS led the hiring process where TCS added 6,433 ,Infosys followed closely with 6,388 additions.

TCS added 625, Infosys 199, and Wipro 614 employees on a sequential basis during the March quarter.

Continued Investments In Campus Hiring

The companies signalled continued investments in campus hiring — often viewed as a demand barometer despite facing global uncertainties, especially surrounding US President Donald Trump’s renewed tariff war

In a separate development, TCS announced that they had onboarded 42,000 freshers in FY25 further planning to hire a similar or slightly higher number in FY26.

The TCS CHRO Milind Lakkad said, “We have onboarded 42,000 trainees in FY25 and FY26 number will be similar or little higher.”

Similarly Infosys announced that it had met its FY25 fresher hiring target of 15,000–20,000 and aims to recruit 20,000+ freshers in FY26.

The CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka noted, “We plan to hire 20,000 plus freshers in FY26.”

Wipro also confirmed to continue fresh hiring at the same pace, though specifics on its FY26 target are yet to be confirmed.

It is noteworthy here that only Infosys has moved ahead with employee raises with FY26 kicking off amid caution.

The IT service provider commenced the rolling out wage hikes from January, with the remainder taking effect from April 1.

On the other hand, TCS confirmed that it is deferring hikes, and will decide based on future business visibility.

So far, Wipro is yet to announce hike timelines and claims to make a decision “closer to the date”.

When it comes to the IT companies, they provide salary increases in advance in September of last year, which was just one year after implementing salary increases in December 2023.
